Our methodology
Every score on this site comes from the same five checks, run the same way every time.
1. Licensing
We verify the operator's licence is current and check which regulator issued it — Kahnawake, Curaçao, or a hybrid Ontario/ROC registration. See our Kahnawake explainer for why that specific licence carries real weight in our scoring.
2. Real payout testing
We deposit real money, satisfy any wagering requirement that applies, and request a withdrawal through Interac or e-Transfer — then time how long it actually takes for funds to land, not how long the operator's own site claims it takes.
3. Interac & e-Transfer support
We confirm Interac or e-Transfer actually works as a deposit and withdrawal method — not just listed on a features page — since it's the payment rail most Quebec players actually use, ahead of cards or e-wallets. See our Interac payments guide for what this looks like across every casino we cover.
4. French-language support quality
We open a live chat conversation in French and evaluate whether we're speaking with a genuinely bilingual agent or a translation layer over an English-only team. This is the single biggest quality gap we see across the operators we've tested.
5. Game-library depth
We browse the actual lobby — slots, live dealer, table games — rather than taking a provider list from a press release at face value.
Why Quebec specifically changes the checklist
Most Canada-wide review sites run one generic checklist and slot Quebec in as an afterthought. We don't, because two things are genuinely different here: a meaningful share of the casinos worth covering are licensed by the Commission des jeux de Kahnawake rather than a provincial regulator (see our Kahnawake explainer), and Quebec players overwhelmingly rely on Interac and e-Transfer rather than the PayPal-heavy payment rails common in Ontario-first coverage. A methodology built around Ontario assumptions would score both of those wrong for a Quebec audience, so we test payment support and licensing here with that market specifically in mind rather than copying a template built for a different province.
How often we re-test
We don't score a casino once and move on. Licensing status, payout speed, and support quality are the three factors most likely to drift after launch, so every operator on this site is scheduled for a recheck on a rolling basis — at minimum monthly, sooner if something during routine browsing looks off. Every review on this site currently shows the same "last reviewed" date because that's when our full initial review batch was completed; as individual rechecks happen going forward, each review's date will move independently to reflect that.
Test conditions
Every test account on this site is opened the same way a regular player would open one — no comped balance, no operator cooperation, no advance notice that a review is coming. That's deliberate: an operator that knows it's being reviewed can put its best foot forward in ways a real player never sees. We want to know what actually happens with real money on an ordinary night, not what happens when support knows a reviewer is on the other end of the chat.
What we won't do
We don't accept payment for a better score or a higher rank. Our affiliate disclosure covers how we're compensated when you sign up through a link on this site — that compensation has no bearing on where an operator lands in our ranking.
Frequently asked
Do you play at every casino you review yourself?
Yes — every review on this site is based on an account we opened and tested ourselves, including a real deposit and a real withdrawal request, not just information taken from an operator's marketing materials.
How do you handle a casino that changes for the worse?
We re-score it. Licensing status, payout speed, and support quality are the three things most likely to change after launch, so we recheck them on a rolling basis rather than only at initial review.
What disqualifies a casino from this list entirely?
An expired or unverifiable licence, a refusal to process a legitimate withdrawal in our test, or advertising that misrepresents odds or outcomes — any one of those is a hard disqualifier, regardless of everything else about the operator.
Do you review every online casino serving Quebec?
No — we intentionally cover a focused list of operators rather than every casino that will take a Quebec signup. A shorter list we've actually tested ourselves beats a long one padded with brands we haven't opened a real account at.
